In partnership with UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists, the National Art Studio, Changdong, Korea is offering a 3 months bursary in the Visual Arts.

Host and Partner institution: The National Art Studio, Changdong, Korea has been established and run by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Republic of Korea and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea. The National Art Studio is designed to enhance the diversity and quality of creative artistic exchange by providing a network for the close relationship between overseas and domestic artists and various art-related professionals. The National Art Studio, Changdong, Korea is located in the northern part of Seoul, a building complex containing 14 individual spaces and open-air work area, etc, situated near the center of the city. The organization provides professional support for artists through exhibition, studio and associated cultural exchange and public related programs, which address the relationship between contemporary art practices and current practical debate.
Working/living conditions: Workshop, exhibition opportunities with local artists, and public discussion, which are to take place respectively within the time, selected depending on the date/time schedule arranged by program manager. Live/work studios with a bed, sharing bath and kitchen, equipped with DSL Internet access service.
Nature of bursary: Round trip airfare; accommodation; bursaries of 3,000,000KRW (approx. 1,680 euros) for the three-month period; opportunity to show on a project at the gallery space at the National Art Studio, Changdong, Korea. The laureates are responsible for their own meals and must provide his/her own health insurance.
Dates of residency: 15 June ~ 10 September, 2010 / 15 September ~ 10 December, 2010
Eligibility: Professional artists in the fields of visual and new media arts must be between 25 and 35 years old with relevant study or training and an experience of artistic work of at least three years, interested in working on a project to be presented at the end of the residency. Working knowledge of English required.

3. A brief artist¡®s statement
4. A pre-project report including anticipated outcome during the residency.
5. CV or résumé listing your most important exhibitions, performances, publications, awards and education
6. Portfolio must be submitted in forms of digital image, preferably in CD or DVD containing
descriptions of work: up to 10 Still images in ¡°jpg¡± format, or in ¡°ppt¡± Video and/or new media artists: please submit a DVD of up to 3 individual clips that are no longer than 5 minutes each. Please create a menu on the DVD that lists the various works.
¡Ø A numbered list of the images submitted (or CD/video script) with title, date of work, medium and size. If essential, a brief (2~3 sentences) description of the work can be included.
Closing date for applications: postmarked by 10 October, 2009
Application Procedure: Applicants' works are reviewed by panels of distinguished curators compromised of boards of the National museum of Contemporary Art, Korea.
